Paraphernalia

APT Gallery London 2006

There is a desire to poeticize the everyday, through exploring the body as a site of transformation to create a romanticized escape from the mundane.

The development of playful, ridiculous and pathos- laden narratives are triggered by personal collections of stuff. These belongings are the results of poignant and yet pointless hoarding. The protagonists are domestic explorers, engaging with, distorting and confronting various histories, spaces, languages and fantasies. The work communicate simultaneously meaningful and absurd episode scenarios that transport the viewer to timeless, ludicrous and emotive destinations.
